Cyber events have been categorized on a 1 to 5 scale, with attacks impacting at least 136,000 organizations in the UK and leading to financial losses of at least £5 billion meriting a category-five classification, according to CMC.

Attackers who breached HSHS' systems from Aug. 16 to Aug. 27, 2023, were able to exfiltrate varying types of data from individuals, including a combination of names, birthdates, addresses, Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, medical record numbers, health insurance details, and treatment information, said the health system.

Infiltration of internal HPE email boxes within the Office 365 environment through a compromised account in May 2023 enabled Midnight Blizzard hackers to access mailbox data from its workers in the cybersecurity, business, and go-to-market teams, according to HPE.

The hacker reportedly used a single compromised employee password to log into a “Maintenance Access” function, forgoing the use of malware or sophisticated attack methods.

Most of the increase was fueled by a breach involving more than three billion email addresses from older breaches, which were primarily from Russia, the U.S., and China, according to Surfshark.

"As soon as IMI became aware of the unauthorized access, the Company engaged external cyber security experts to investigate and contain the incident," said IMI in a notice to the London Stock Exchange.
