New Rubrik platform ensures complete data sovereignty

Security Brief Australia reports that Rubrik has launched Rubrik Security Cloud Sovereign, a new iteration of its data security platform engineered to keep all data, metadata, and management functions within customer-defined geographic and jurisdictional boundaries.

Designed for government and commercial entities facing stringent data residency regulations, the platform ensures that sensitive information, its associated control plane, and operational analytics remain insulated from external access, including by foreign governments or the vendor itself. Chief Product Officer Anneka Gupta stated the offering addresses a fundamental customer demand for "certainty that no foreign entity... can access or control their data."

The sovereign version provides immutable data protection to prevent encryption or deletion by attackers, along with integrated threat detection and "turbo threat hunting" capabilities that operate entirely within the designated boundary without data exfiltration. It supports hybrid environments, covering on-premises infrastructure, cloud, and SaaS workloads, and can be deployed via sovereign cloud providers or private infrastructure.

This release responds to escalating global regulatory pressure and cyber threats, providing what Rubrik terms "advanced data protection without compromising data sovereignty," with early access now available to select customers ahead of a broader rollout.
