The surging use of AI tools and agents is bringing greater risk to the web browser, prompting industry giants and startups to make a major push in browser security this year, as first reported by CRN.

Organizations are facing intensifying threats involving plug-ins and malicious code executing within browsers, with AI and agents exacerbating these risks. In response, major vendors like CrowdStrike, Zscaler, and Palo Alto Networks have made significant acquisitions and product updates. CrowdStrike acquired Seraphic to expand its browser protection, while Zscaler acquired SquareX and enhanced its Zero Trust Browser offering. Palo Alto Networks launched Prisma Browser for Business targeting SMBs. Other key players like Atakama, Cyera, Google, Island, Menlo Security, Microsoft, and Netskope have also unveiled updates. These include enhanced data loss prevention, real-time visibility into AI usage, prompt-level alerting, and agent security to prevent malicious instructions. The browser is increasingly seen as the new endpoint, necessitating robust security measures to protect against evolving threats, as first reported by CRN.
