Central Maine Healthcare data breach affects over 145,000 individuals

Per Bleeping Computer, Central Maine Healthcare (CMH) has disclosed a significant data breach that compromised the sensitive information of more than 145,000 individuals. The intrusion allowed unauthorized access to the organization's systems for over two months.

The breach, which occurred between March 19 and June 1 of last year, impacted patients and current or former employees of CMH, an integrated healthcare system serving approximately 400,000 people and managing facilities like Central Maine Medical Center. The exposed data may include full names, dates of birth, treatment details, dates of service, provider names, health insurance information, and Social Security Numbers.

CMH began notifying affected individuals as the investigation progressed, with the analysis concluding on November 6, 2025, confirming 145,381 individuals were affected. The healthcare provider is offering free credit monitoring services to mitigate risks of phishing, impersonation, and fraud..
