Nutanix expands platform for sovereign, distributed cloud needs

SiliconANGLE reports that Nutanix has announced a major expansion of its Cloud Platform, introducing over 160 new features in version 7.5 designed to help enterprises and government agencies build and operate distributed sovereign cloud environments.

The updates focus on enabling organizations to meet stringent regulatory, privacy, and data-residency requirements across on-premises data centers, public clouds, and edge locations, including fully disconnected "dark sites."

According to SVP Lee Caswell, the rise of AI is driving demand for distributed architectures, as moving large data volumes to a central cloud for training is costly and risky. Key enhancements include deploying Nutanix Central and Data Lens on-premises for customer-controlled management and security, expanding sovereign cloud support across AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure regions, and offering license portability and encryption key control in public clouds.

The update also strengthens security for Kubernetes and AI workloads with FIPS-validated images and microsegmentation for containers. Improved resilience features include tiered disaster recovery policies for prioritized workload restoration.
