As reported by Bleeping Computer, an Illinois man has pleaded guilty to hacking nearly 600 women's Snapchat accounts to steal nude photos. The defendant, Kyle Svara, aged 26, admitted to using phishing tactics to obtain access codes and compromise accounts between May 2020 and February 2021.Svara employed social engineering to acquire victims' personal information, including emails, phone numbers, and Snapchat usernames. He then impersonated Snap representatives in text messages, requesting access codes from over 4,500 individuals. This scheme successfully yielded credentials from approximately 570 victims, allowing him to access at least 59 accounts without authorization to steal compromising images.Svara advertised these illicit services online, trading stolen content and offering to hack into accounts for clients. Notably, he was hired by a former university track coach, Steve Waithe, to target students, who was later convicted of sextortion.Source: Bleeping Computer
