South Carolina-based molecular diagnostics firm Vikor Scientific, which has since been rebranded as Vanta Diagnostics, was noted by the Department of Health and Human Services' health breach tracker to have had information from 139,964 individuals compromised in a November data security incident against its revenue cycle management solutions provider Catalyst RCM, which was claimed by the Everest ransomware gang, SecurityWeek reports.Nearly 12 GB of documents from Vikor and its affiliated labs KorPath and Korgene, were allegedly stolen by the Everest ransomware gang as a result of the third-party breach. Such a development comes weeks after Catalyst RCM reported the discovery of unauthorized secure file management access using breached credentials, which resulted in the exfiltration of files with names, birthdates, medical details, payment card information, and health insurance details. With Catalyst RCM, KorPath, and Korgene yet to share the impact of the breach with the HHS, the toll of the incident may still increase.
