Fortinet is advocating for a consolidated, platform-based security model to combat the overwhelming complexity and tool sprawl created by modern multi-cloud and hybrid enterprise environments, according to Security Boulevard. The core of this strategy is the Fortinet Security Fabric, an architectural approach designed to secure the entire digital footprint as a single, integrated entity.

This framework is built on three principles: it is broad, covering everything from endpoints to cloud workloads; integrated, with all components sharing intelligence under a common policy; and automated, leveraging AI for coordinated threat response. A key application of this fabric is its Universal SASE solution, which converges networking and security services like FWaaS and ZTNA into a unified system managed from a single console, eliminating the need for disparate point solutions.

Fortinet emphasizes that the entire system is powered by AI, both through its global FortiGuard Labs threat intelligence and local automated detection, arguing that this unified approach is essential for CISOs to achieve consistent policy enforcement and rapid response across a fragmented attack surface.
