About 5,500 impacted in Oklahoma benefits broker laptop theft

About 5,500 staffers with and clients of Oklahoma-based employee benefits broker Maschino, Hudelson & Associates (MHA) are being notified that their personal information – including Social Security numbers – was on a laptop that was stolen from a worker's car.

How many victims? About 5,500. 

What type of personal information? Names, addresses, dates of birth and Social Security numbers, as well as claims information.

What happened? A laptop containing the personal information was stolen from an employee's car.

What was the response? Law enforcement was notified and a forensic analysis is ongoing. MHA is tightening electronic media policies and taking other measures to ensure a similar incident does not occur in the future. All impacted individuals are being notified and offered free credit monitoring services.

Details: The laptop was stolen on or around April 2 and has yet to be recovered.
