Sterling Seacrest Pritchard, a leading U.S. private insurance brokerage and risk management firm, had data from 7,420 individuals compromised following the August breach of its email system, according to Cybernews.Investigation into the incident showed that infiltration of SSP's email system between Aug. 12 and 13 enabled access or exfiltration of individuals' personal and sensitive data, including names and Social Security numbers, said the insurer in a filing with the Office of the Maine Attorney General, which noted the attack had impacted 20 Maine residents. While there has been no indication of the exposed data being misused in attacks, SSP has proceeded to provide complimentary credit monitoring, fraud consultation, and identity theft restoration services to all those whose SSNs or driver's license details were exposed. Impacted individuals have also been recommended to examine suspicious activity in their credit and debit account statements, as well as promptly report such dubious activity.
