TrioTech International, a California-based global semiconductor back-end solutions provider offering manufacturing, testing, and distribution services, has disclosed that its Singaporean subsidiary has been compromised in a March 11 ransomware attack, which has been claimed by the Gunra ransomware operation, according to SecurityWeek.
Despite initially disregarding the material impact of the incident, Trio-Tech noted in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that it reconsidered the severity of the breach after select data exfiltrated from its network had been exposed by threat actors.
"The subsidiary is taking steps to contain the incident, restore affected systems, and enhance monitoring across its network environment. The subsidiary is in the process of notifying affected parties as required by applicable law," said the firm in the filing.
Investigation into the extent of the incident is still underway, with Trio-Tech emphasizing the subsidiary's ongoing coordination with its cyberinsurance provider to assist in its probe, remediation, and possible claims distribution.
