More than 238K hit by Akira-claimed Fieldtex Product hack

SecurityWeek reports that U.S. medical supply fulfillment services company Fieldtex Products was noted by the Department of Health and Human Services' data breach tracker to have had details from 238,615 people stolen following a cyberattack claimed by the Akira ransomware operation earlier last month.

Attackers who were discovered to have infiltrated Fieldtex's systems in mid-August were able to steal individuals' names, birthdates, addresses, gender, insurance member ID numbers, plan names, and effective terms, said the firm in its breach notice, which referenced data provided by members of health plans that have obtained its health offerings.

Fieldtex's disclosure comes more than a month after Akira took responsibility for pilfering over 14 GB of corporate files from the company's E-First Aid Supplies division. Allegedly included in the data trove were employee, customer, and financial data, said Akira, which has not yet leaked additional files it threatened to expose last month.
