Security Affairs reports that almost 2 million individuals were confirmed to have had their information stolen following the Qilin ransomware attack against major Japanese brewery firm Asahi Group Holdings in September.
Aside from exfiltrating personal details, including names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses, from 1.525 million customers who had contacted Asahi's customer services, threat actors were also able to pilfer information from 114,000 external contacts, 107,000 employees and retirees, and 168,000 employee family members, according to Asahi.
"We have not confirmed any instance of this data being published on the internet. The impact of the attack on our systems is limited to those managed in Japan," said the company in an announcement. Asahi's disclosure comes after Qilin exposed 27 GB of stolen Asahi data on its leak site. More than 9,000 files were claimed to have been obtained from Asahi's systems, with Qilin posting contracts and business data as samples.
