The cybersecurity-focused venture capital firm Ballistic Ventures is seeking to raise 490 million dollars across two new funds, according to TechCrunch.
The San Francisco-based firm filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to raise 360 million dollars for its third flagship fund and 130 million dollars for a separate vehicle, Ballistic Ventures Fund B. Founded in 2021 by industry veterans including Ted Schlein, Barmak Meftah and Roger Thornton, the firm has previously backed companies such as Talon Cyber Security and Pangea. These fundraising efforts arrive as the industry faces heightened threats from artificial intelligence, which hackers are increasingly using to accelerate phishing, social engineering and malware development.
According to a JPMorgan Chase report, U.S. cybersecurity startups raised 11.5 billion dollars in 2025, with AI-enabled companies accounting for 72% of venture deals through May. While Ballistic Ventures maintains ties to the venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins, its investment strategy mirrors other specialized firms like Forgepoint Capital. The firm declined to comment on the new filings, which follow a 300 million dollars debut fund in 2022 and a 360 million dollars second fund in 2024.
