Authorities eye foreign operatives in Target breach

A year after the Target breach, a number of investigators are convinced that foreign groups were behind the high-profile attack, which exposed information on 56 million payment cards.

While law enforcement authorities and investigators are keeping mum, some security pros are pointing to Andrey Hodirevski, a Ukranian man reportedly living with his grandmother in Odessa, as one of the suspects connected to the breach, according to a report in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune

Researcher and blogger Brian Krebs first named Hodrievski after he broke the Target breach story a year ago.

Researchers from Group-IB and the Computer Forensic Services have weighed in, recently, casting blame on Hodirevski, the Star-Tribune reported. To date, the Ukranian man has not commented on allegations that he is connected to the breach.
