AI has been integrated by 82% of ethical hackers into their workflows to facilitate accelerated findings and more efficient assessments, representing a sharp increase from the 63% of respondents who leveraged AI in 2023, while the rate of those who believed AI to be value-adding to their profession held steady year-over-year at 74%, reports Infosecurity Magazine.

Most ethical hackers have leveraged AI to automate and expedite repetitive tasks; analyze unformatted files, convoluted JavaScript, large codebases, and other bothersome code; and facilitate research assistance on new technologies, according to a Bugcrowd report. Additional findings showed that 72% of respondents attested to the benefits of collaboration, with 61% reporting the discovery of more critical flaws when working in teams.

"Whether through internal security teams or outsourcing part of their security operations to managed services firms, security teams must quickly ramp up their usage of AI in response to the increased threat environment," said Bugcrowd CEO Dave Gerry.
