Global educational institutions experienced a 63% surge in cyberattacks during the period spanning November 2024 to October 2025, with data breaches soaring 73% and hacktivist-driven activity jumping 75%, according to threat intelligence compiled by Quorum Cyber, reports Infosecurity Magazine.

The breach was claimed by the ShinyHunters extortion group, which threatened to leak the data by April 30 if a ransom was not paid.

The breach affected customer and prospective customer data, including names, phone numbers, and addresses.

TechCrunch reports that Vercel has disclosed that unencrypted customer information had been compromised prior to this month's breach that affected its internal systems.

The discovery was revealed by UK technology minister Ian Murray in the House of Commons on Thursday, coinciding with Biobank's own confirmation of the data issue.

Hackers gained access to Rituals' membership database, stealing data that includes customers' full names, dates of birth, gender, postal and email addresses, and phone numbers.

Three healthcare providers across the U.S. were noted by the Department of Health and Human Services' breach tracker to have been impacted by separate cyberattacks last year, which have collectively compromised data from about 600,000 individuals, SecurityWeek reports.
