An undisclosed number of individuals may have had personal information compromised after a secured California Employment Development Department (EDD) facility was broken into and computers containing Unemployment Insurance (UI) records were stolen.

What happened? A locked and secured EDD facility was broken into and computers containing UI records were stolen.
What was the response? The EDD is notifying all affected individuals.
Details: The California data breach notification website lists the incident as having occurred and having been discovered by the EDD on Sept. 30. Notification letters are dated Dec. 12. The computers that were stolen had a secure login and were password protected.
