VMware announced that it has launched its Cloud Flex Storage managed service for VMware Cloud on AWS, according to TechTarget.
VMware Cloud Flex Storage employs AWS S3 object storage for storing data and Elastic Compute Cloud compute instances on NVMe for caching, to give customers flexibility in picking their preferred performance or
cost parameters for applications operating on the company's cloud solution, while also letting customers increase capacity when needed through additional purchases and compute separately via the VMware Cloud Services Console.
VMware Cloud Flex Storage connects to the cloud version of the company's vSAN storage virtualization software, and includes at-rest encryption, deduplication and data compression among its capabilities.
Through vSAN, users are able to create hyper-converged infrastructure and benefit from VMware's vCenter suite of applications, a capability that the company said it plans to enhance further in the future by providing support for additional clouds and enabling multi-cloud storage management.
