The Traefik Hub cloud-native application programming interface management solution is now generally available, according to TechCrunch.
Traefik Hub allows users to publish, secure, and manage APIs as well as integrate TraefikLabs other products, Traefik Proxy and Mesh. It also has support for other proxies, such as HAProxy, Ambassador, NGINX, and others, allowing users to swap out their existing proxies with Traefik Hub and easily publish APIs from any existing Kubernetes microservice. In terms of security, Traefik Hub supports role-based access controls as well as authentication and authorization using JSON Web Tokens, OAuth 2.0, or any other method of their choice.
TraefikLabs founder Emile Vaugesays the company's first product had its origins when Vauge was looking for a way to make thousands of microservices accessible over the internet, and eventually built Traefik as a cloud-native reverse-proxy solution and service mesh. This time, Vauge says he sees the same need in the API space, hence the creation of Traefik Hub.
We think that there is a huge opportunity because existing API management solutions are not well-suited to the cloud-native world, Vauge said.
