SecurityWeek reports that Kelly Benefits, a Maryland-based benefits administration and payroll solutions provider, has confirmed that over 413,000 individuals served by its customers Amergis, Beltway Companies, Beam Benefits, The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, Carefirst, Publishers Circulation Fulfilment, Intercon Truck of Baltimore, Transforming Lives, and Quantum Real Estate Management had their data stolen following a December cyberattack.

Kelly Benefits previously disclosed the incident to have impacted only about 32,000 people early last month before revising the breach toll to almost 260,000 days later, with affected individuals already notified on behalf of its clients. Investigation into the five-day breach, which concluded in March, showed that attackers were able to pilfer individuals' names, birthdates, Social Security numbers, tax ID numbers, health insurance and medical details, and financial account data. Additional details regarding the nature of the attack remains uncertain as no ransomware operation has so far claimed responsibility for the intrusion.
