Samsung SDS has released its assessment of the five most significant cybersecurity risks enterprises should prepare for in 2026, based on an analysis of domestic and international incidents from the previous year. The company's report highlights AI-based security threats, ransomware, cloud security, phishing and account takeovers, and data security as the most pressing trends shaping the enterprise risk landscape, as reported by The Cyber Express.

The report details how generative AI and AI agents are becoming central to new threats, with risks of over-delegation and privilege misuse growing. Samsung SDS warns that AI agents with excessive permissions can lead to data exfiltration or system damage, recommending the principle of least privilege and AI guardrails for monitoring and anomaly detection. Ransomware tactics are evolving to quadruple extortion, involving data encryption, leaks, DDoS attacks, and pressure on third parties. Cloud security threats persist due to misconfigurations like excessive storage sharing and poor authentication. Phishing and account takeovers aim to infiltrate organizations for data theft or ransomware deployment. Data security threats arise from single-factor authentication and inadequate oversight.

Samsung SDS emphasizes the need for AI-powered security solutions and proactive responses, moving beyond traditional methods. Countermeasures include enforcing least privilege for AI, securing backups against advanced ransomware, using CNAPP for cloud security, implementing universal multi-factor authentication, and strengthening data security through action-based access controls.
