Russia's biggest news channel website, Russia Today (RT), was compromised and defaced by hackers on Friday.
The Moscow-based news service confirmed the hack via Twitter, announcing that the hackers had gained access to its content management system.
Once that was compromised, the hackers changed headlines so any references made to “Russia” or “Russians” were replaced by the words “Nazi” and “Nazis.” The changes to headlines remained on the website for less than an hour, until RT announced via Twitter that everything was “back to normal.”
The hack on the pro-Kremlin news service is believed to be provoked by the Russian's deployment of military forces on the Ukraine's Crimea.
