Virginia-based Richmond Behavioral Health Authority had data from 113,232 individuals stolen following a ransomware attack in late September that has been claimed by the Qilin ransomware operation, SecurityWeek reports.
Infiltration of RBHA's network on Sept. 29 potentially exposed individuals' personal details, including names, Social Security numbers, financial account information, passport numbers, and health data, said RBHA, which also emphasized immediate action to boot out attackers from its systems in a breach notice posted on its website.
"We encourage you to remain vigilant against incidents of identity theft and fraud, to review your account statements, and to monitor your credit reports for suspicious activity," RBHA added.
More details regarding the attacker have not been provided by RBHA, which offers mental health support, substance abuse, crisis care, and prevention services.
Qilin, which admitted to having conducted the intrusion in mid-October, has already leaked 192 GB of data including more than 393,000 files purportedly pilfered from RBHA's systems.
