The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) in April discreetly hired a cybersecurity adviser from within the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to be its new CISO, according to a report from FedScoop. The revelation came to light as the agency continues to recover from a devastating data breach that compromised more than 21 million individuals in 2015.
The new CISO, Cord Chase, will lead OPM's cybersecurity program alongside director of security operations Jeff Wagner and senior cybersecurity adviser Clifton Triplett, as he focuses on patching vulnerabilities, instituting ID verification, and improving malware and intrusion detection, among other tasks, the article continues.
Previously in his career, Chase served as CTO and director of security operations in the Agriculture Department, FedScoop further reported.
