Rapid7 partners with ARMO for cloud runtime security

Rapid7 has announced a strategic partnership with cloud security firm ARMO, integrating advanced runtime protection into its Rapid7 Command Platform to extend its exposure management capabilities with real-time threat detection, Security Brief Australia reports.

The collaboration focuses on Cloud Application Detection and Response, leveraging ARMO's open-source Kubescape technology for Kubernetes to monitor live cloud assets and workloads for malicious activity such as API attacks and container breakouts. Rapid7 CEO Corey Thomas stated the move delivers "clearer visibility, faster response, and better security outcomes," shifting teams from reactive defense to preemptive response.

The integrated solution correlates runtime anomalies with existing data on misconfigurations and vulnerabilities, providing a unified view to prioritize threats across multicloud environments like AWS and Azure. IDC analyst Philip Bues endorsed the partnership, noting it connects "proactive exposure management and real-time threat detection & response" to help security teams align remediation with operational risk.

This new runtime layer will be included in Rapid7's premium Exposure Command Ultimate tier, addressing the growing challenge of sophisticated attacks that exploit small gaps in interconnected cloud services.
