SUSE has announced the release of Rancher 2.6, the first major update to the Kubernetes management platform since Rancher Labs’ purchase by SUSE, according to ZDNet.The new Rancher version features an enhanced user interface providing a refreshed platform experience; management of hosted Kubernetes clusters in Google GKE and Microsoft AKS together with existing Amazon EKS capabilities; and a host of compliance and security features. The update also makes it easier to manage, operate and secure multi-cloud clusters, as well as import and manage hosted clusters across clouds. The new Rancher also touts architectural support for 1 million clusters, bringing the platform closer to the goal of enabling Kubernetes to be run everywhere.SUSE Rancher 2.6 has also enabled integration with SUSE Linux Enterprise Base Container Images, including Suse Linux Enterprise Server 15 SP3, which is custom-made for containerized workloads and offers a subset of containerized developer and application packages allowing developers to build automated continuous integration systems. In addition, Rancher 2.6 introduces enhanced audit log traceability enabling operators to smoothly fulfill audit compliance requirements.
