Major Italian diving equipment manufacturer Cressi was claimed to have been hacked by the Qilin ransomware operation, according to Cybernews.Additional details regarding the incident remain unclear, as Qilin has neither posted data samples nor created a countdown timer for the exposure of purportedly stolen information. Cressi, which sells equipment to scuba divers, spearfishers, freedivers, and snorkelers across over 90 countries, has yet to acknowledge Qilin's assertions.Data from Cybernews' Ransomlooker tool revealed that nearly 1,253 organizations, most of which are in the healthcare and manufacturing sectors, have already been targeted by the Russia-linked Qilin ransomware gang since 2023. Qilin has also continued to be among the most prolific ransomware groups last year, attacking Swiss bank Habib Bank AG Zurich, major U.S. pharmacy benefit manager MedImpact, Volkswagen AG subsidiary Volkswagen Group France, and leading South Korean telecommunications provider SK Telecom. Qilin's dominance has been fortified by its reported partnership with the LockBit and DragonForce gangs in October.
