South Korean conglomerate Kyowon Group was estimated by a government investigation team to have had nearly 9.6 million accounts compromised following a suspected ransomware intrusion over the weekend, reports Yonhap News Agency.Seventy-five percent of Kyowon Group's 800 servers are believed by officials to have been affected by the breach, which was initially detected by the company on Saturday. Individuals with two or more accounts may be affected by the incident, with Kyowon Group's tutoring, home appliance, rental, and funeral services affiliates serving 13 million members, or 5.54 million unique users."We have identified indications of a possible data leak, and an investigation is underway with relevant organizations and security institutions to determine whether consumers' data was actually breached. If customer data is confirmed to have been leaked, we will notify users in a transparent manner," said Kyowon Group in a statement.
