As reported by HackRead, the notorious Everest ransomware group has claimed a significant data breach targeting Nissan Motor Corporation, the Japanese multinational automobile manufacturer. The group posted their allegations on January 10, 2026, on their dark web leak site, presenting six screenshots that they claim are from stolen data.

The Everest group's alleged leak includes directory structures and internal records purportedly from Nissan. The screenshots display organized internal file storage with various documents, including reports, data extracts, and dealership information in formats like .csv, .txt, and .xls. Some files appear to reference specific programs, certification reports, and claims processing, with one spreadsheet detailing dealership names and locations. While the visible screenshots do not show sensitive personal data, the folder names suggest access to operational systems. The ransomware group has issued a five-day ultimatum to Nissan for a response, threatening to leak the allegedly compromised data online.

This alleged incident highlights Nissan's ongoing vulnerability to cyber threat targeting, following previous breaches involving the Qilin ransomware group and a significant leak of employee and customer data in 2025. The Everest group's continued activity, with claims against numerous high-profile organizations, underscores the persistent pressure on large corporations to bolster their cybersecurity defenses.
