Nissan Motor Corporation has confirmed that nearly 21,000 customers at Nissan Fukuoka had their data stolen following a September breach at Red Hat, which was claimed by the Crimson Collective cybercrime operation, BleepingComputer reports.

Infiltration of Nissan's Red Hat servers exposed Nissan Fukuoka clients' full names, phone numbers, physical and email addresses, and other sales operation-related information, but not their financial details, according to Nissan, which emphasized that there has been no indication of any data misuse.

Such a disclosure comes months after Crimson Collective took responsibility for pilfering over 500 GB of Red Hat data from 28,000 GitLab repositories, with ShinyHunters later publishing samples of the stolen data to extort the U.S. enterprise software firm. Nissan has also been impacted by a slew of cyberattacks since last year, with its Tokyo-based design studio Creative Box Inc. targeted by the Qilin ransomware gang in August.
