NetApp Inc. unveiled its new cybersecurity service, Spot Security, which is designed to detect and prevent cyberattacks on users’ data in the public cloud, according to SiliconANGLE.
The solution maps out a cloud environment in search of resources that have deployed insecure configuration settings and are likely targets for cyberattacks. Spot Security also identifies potential breaches by flagging anomalous user behavior.
Spot Security is also able to sort through alerts for the most severe security vulnerabilities by analyzing the topology of an organization’s cloud environment and determining each resource’s level of vulnerability depending on its connection with other components and the potential impact of a breach on that resource. This allows technology teams to focus their time on addressing the most likely potential cybersecurity incidents.
The new product marks NetApp’s continued efforts to add the public cloud to its business scope as more of its customers move away from its storage systems toward off-premises storage infrastructures.
