Pennsylvania-based optical care provider Tri-Century Eye Care was noted by the Department of Health and Human Services' data breach tracker to have had information from almost 200,000 patients and employees exposed following a September hack claimed by the Pear ransomware operation, reports SecurityWeek.Infiltration of Tri-Century Eye Care's systems allowed access to files with individuals' names, birthdates, Social Security numbers, health insurance details, medical or health data, treatment or diagnostic information, and tax or financial details.More than 3 TB of data allegedly stolen from Tri-Century Eye Care, including personal and health information, emails, databases, financial, HR, and business operations files, have already been exposed by Pear after the health provider refused to fulfill the demanded ransom. Such an incident at Tri-Century Eye Care follows similar breaches at fellow eye care providers Asheville Eye Associates, Ocuco, and Retina Group of Florida.
