Jimmy John’s sandwich chain investigating possible breach

Jimmy John's sandwich chain is investigating a possible breach of customer credit card information.

Various financial institutions noticed fraudulent charges on cards that were recently used at multiple Jimmy John's locations, according to technology blogger Brian Krebs. The restaurant chain said in an email to Krebs that it is, “…currently working with the proper authorities and investigating the situation.”

The financial institutions noted that the stolen card information was being use to create counterfeit card copies.

If Jimmy John's confirms the payment information breach, it will be another in an ever-expanding list of nationwide retailers and restaurants hit with massive breaches. Target's breach compromised the payment information of at least 40 million customers, and reports of others, including at Sally Beauty, Neiman Marcus, Michaels and P.F. Chang's followed soon after.
