As reported by TechCrunch, newly released documents from the Department of Justice reveal allegations that financier Jeffrey Epstein employed a "personal hacker." The information stems from a confidential informant who spoke with the FBI in 2017, detailing the alleged capabilities and activities of this individual.

The informant described the hacker as Italian, specializing in iOS, BlackBerry, and Firefox vulnerabilities. This individual allegedly developed zero-day exploits and offensive cyber tools, selling them to various governments, including an unnamed central African nation, the U.K., and the U.S. The informant also claimed Epstein's hacker sold a zero-day exploit to Hezbollah, receiving a substantial cash payment. The document emphasizes these are allegations from the informant, and the FBI has not directly confirmed them. The FBI declined to comment when reached by TechCrunch.
