TechCrunch reports that Insight Partners has wrapped up the issuance of data breach notifications to individuals affected by a social engineering attack in January after finalizing its investigation into the incident last month.

Despite not providing additional details regarding the probe, Insight Partners previously disclosed that the intrusion resulted in the exfiltration of personal details belonging to limited partners and current and former employees, as well as other information on the venture capital firm's funds, portfolio firms, and management companies, including banking and tax data.

Aside from keeping mum on the number of individuals affected by the incident, Insight Partners has also refused to confirm or deny data extortion from its attackers.

Such an attack against Insight Partners comes four years after fellow VC firms Advanced Technology Ventures and Sequoia Partners were subjected to separate data breaches, which have resulted in the exposure of limited partners' personal details.
