Major Italian industrial and chemical gas producer SIAD Group had 159 GB of data purportedly stolen from its systems by the Everest ransomware gang, which threatened to expose the exfiltrated data within eight days, according to Cybernews. No data sample has been included alongside the breach claims, making it difficult to determine the extent of the incident, said Cybernews researchers. SAID Group has yet to acknowledge Everest's assertions."Since SIAD Group is a major supplier of various industrial consumables, if the ransomware attacks halt their production and operations, it may lead to an inability to deliver the consumables used by their clients, which may lead to moderate disruptions in manufacturing, healthcare, and the energy sector, mainly in the EU," researchers added.Everest's alleged hack of SAID Group comes after the group targeted Collins Aerospace's automatic check-in and boarding software, resulting in the disruption of several European airports. BMW and Mailchimp were also recently claimed to have been compromised by the ransomware operation.
