EU proposes regulatory changes to ease compliance with AI Act and GDPR

According to Silicon Angle, the European Union has introduced a series of regulatory adjustments to simplify compliance with the AI Act and GDPR privacy law in the bloc.

The proposed changes include postponing the implementation of certain rules under the AI Act, broadening regulatory exceptions for small and medium-sized businesses and improving access to regulatory sandboxes for testing AI systems. Additionally, modifications to GDPR aim to streamline cookie consent processes, enabling consumers to accept cookies with one click and centrally save preferences. The Data Act is also slated for amendments to facilitate data portability and access for consumers.

These regulatory updates are expected to lessen administrative burdens for businesses, especially startups and small enterprises, encouraging innovation and market opportunities within the EU. By simplifying data regulations and improving access to resources like training datasets and standardized contractual terms, the EU aims to promote compliance and facilitate cross-border business initiatives, potentially saving companies billions of dollars annually.
