Enterprises pair cloud migration with cybersecurity upgrades
HealthITSecurity reports that the chances of experiencing a ransomware attack or data breach are lower among organizations that have migrated their applications to the public cloud, though security concerns still exist in that environment, based on the results of a poll conducted by research firm Vanson Bourne for Barracuda networks.According to the survey of 750 IT decision makers, nearly one-third of respondents reported that their enterprises had been the victims of a ransomware incident in the last 12 months, and nearly 50% said they experienced at least two incidents. The findings that fewer organizations with applications in the public cloud implied that the public cloud offers a degree of protection from data breaches. To address potential cybersecurity incidents, organizations have adopted a range of security protocols, according to the report, such as SD-WAN solutions, which were implemented by nearly 50% of respondents and zero-trust network access, which is being used by more than 40% of respondents. The study found that enterprises that implemented the most sophisticated security systems and kept them up-to-date were those that experienced the fewest cybersecurity incidents.
