SecurityWeek reports that major label printing firm Multi-Color Corporation has been hit by a cyberattack, which may have compromised the personal data of its current and former employees.
After identifying unauthorized network access on Sept. 29, MCC launched an investigation revealing the potential compromise of sensitive HR data, including "personnel files and information on enrollment in our benefits programs," with MCC noting that such data has been collected by the company for use in its health and wellness program, payroll, and other business purposes.
Some employees' spouses, partners, and/or dependents who have been enrolled in MCC's benefits programs may have also had their data affected by the incident. However, MCC emphasized that the breach has not affected its suppliers and customers.
"[B]ased on the measures that we have implemented and the actions we have taken, there is no indication that any personal information subject to this cybersecurity incident has been misused or will be misused in the future," said MCC.
