Cisco announced new tools that are intended to give application developers greater observability during the entire lifecycle of their applications, Cloud Native Now Reports.
One new offering, called the Full Stack Observability Platform, is designed specifically for cloud-native applications and enables unified collection of metrics, logs, traces, and events using open source OpenTelemetry software.
FSO Platform was unveiled alongside Panoptica, a security life cycle management solution that helps developers detect risks, issue and manage alerts, and identify the most viable remediation actions based on its built-in attack path analysis capability.
The new tools will be offered as part of what Cisco describes as a new suite of tools for software engineers, a different market from the company's typical targets of networking and IT professionals, which Cisco has rechristened Outshift.
The company's goal with the Outshift portfolio is to build a set of tools and platforms to help in managing security workflows and DevOps within cloud-native application environments, said Vijoy Pandey, Ciscos senior vice president for emerging technologies and incubation.
