Capella by Couchbase receives storage, security enhancements

Share

Couchbase has announced new upgrades to its Capella cloud-based managed database service that expands the offerings data storage and security capabilities, reports SiliconANGLE. The upgrade gives the NoSQL database Capella, which allows users to automate certain maintenance tasks, with an alternative choice of storage engine to the default Couch store. Called Magma, the new component is designed to provide improved performance for some enterprise applications. According to the company, the Magma storage engine could benefit enterprises that use applications with datasets so complex and large that they must be stored on flash or disk drives, thanks to optimizations that speed up data processing tasks by up to four times compared to other technologies while using on-tenth of the memory, Couchbase said. In addition, the new upgrade adds administrative controls aimed at enhancing Capella's cybersecurity compliance, especially for users covered by HIPAA data security regulations, and an audit capability allowing tracking of important business data.
