Canada Goose downplays ShinyHunters data leak

The Register reports that Canada Goose, a luxury performance outerwear and clothing manufacturer, has denied being subjected to a recent data security incident, noting that ShinyHunters' Valentine's Day leak of over 600,000 records consisted of data stolen from an old breach.

Included in the dataset exposed by ShinyHunters were previous customer transactions that did not include any unmasked financial details, according to Canada Goose. Analysis of the JSON file provided by ShinyHunters revealed personally identifiable information from individuals across North America and Europe.

"At this time, we have no indication of any breach of our own systems. We are currently reviewing the newly released dataset to assess its accuracy and scope, and will take any further steps as may be appropriate," said a company spokesperson.

Multiple high-profile organizations were already claimed to have been compromised by ShinyHunters this year, including SoundCloud, Betterment, Match Group, Harvard University, Crunchbase, and Panera Bread.
