Canada Computers cyberattack exposes customer data, including credit card details

As reported by Tech Radar, Canada Computers & Electronics has confirmed a significant cyberattack that resulted in the exposure of sensitive customer data, including payment information. The breach impacted customers who utilized the guest checkout option on their retail website.

The cyberattack, detected on January 22, 2026, allowed unauthorized actors to access a system supporting the retail website. The compromised data includes personal customer information and credit card details for individuals who made purchases as guests between December 29, 2025, and January 22, 2026. Canada Computers stated that member accounts and in-store purchases were not affected. The company is offering affected customers two years of free credit monitoring and identity theft protection services.

This incident highlights the ongoing risks associated with e-commerce platforms and the importance of robust security measures, particularly for guest checkout functionalities.
