Bumble data allegedly swiped by ShinyHunters

Cybersecurity hologram and lock circuit, cyberattack and protection

Widely used online dating app Bumble had 30 GB of data claimed to have been stolen by the ShinyHunters hacking group, most of which were internal files obtained from the firm's Google Drive and Slack accounts, according to Cybernews.

Investigation into ShinyHunters' alleged breach is still underway. While Bumble confirmed the recent compromise of one of its contractor accounts in a phishing attack, it emphasized that no user chats or profiles have been exposed. Such a development comes after ShinyHunters purportedly pilfered over 10 million records from online dating service operator Match Group's Hinge, Match, and OkCupid apps, which was downplayed to have only impacted limited user information.

"There is no indication that user log-in credentials, financial information, or private communications were accessed," said a Match Group spokesperson. ShinyHunters was also recently reported to have claimed breaches at multinational bakery-cafe chain Panera Bread, private market intelligence firm Crunchbase, audio streaming platform SoundCloud, and financial advisory company Betterment.
