Bitwarden introduces Cupid Vault for secure password sharing

Bitwarden has launched a new feature called Cupid Vault, designed to enable users to securely share passwords with trusted individuals via email. This system allows free-tier users to create a two-person shared vault, known as an "Organization," where login credentials can be managed and accessed by both parties. The feature aims to simplify the secure sharing of online account access, as reported by Bleeping Computer.

Cupid Vault functions by allowing a vault owner to invite a second user via their email address to join a shared "Organization." This creates a separate space for shared login pairs, distinct from the user's personal vault. To enhance security and prevent man-in-the-middle attacks, owners can verify the intended recipient through a fingerprint phrase. Access to the shared vault and its contents can be revoked at any time, and sharing can be configured bidirectionally. Both members of the two-person organization can edit or delete items within the shared vault, with ownership not tied to the creator.

This feature is available at no cost to all users on the free plan, with limitations of two collections and two users per organization. For paying tiers, Bitwarden offers more advanced sharing capabilities.
