Barracuda Networks has launched Barracuda Assistant, an AI-powered virtual agent designed to bolster security operations by accelerating threat investigation and simplifying complex tasks for organizations and managed service providers, reports Security Brief Australia.

The tool integrates directly into the BarracudaONE cybersecurity platform, providing a unified interface for conducting vulnerability assessments, reviewing incidents, and accessing real-time threat intelligence. Brian Downey, Vice President of Product Management at Barracuda, stated the assistant empowers users of all skill levels to "investigate threats quickly and confidently," helping to close critical skills gaps and reduce human error.

The assistant leverages the company's global threat intelligence network to deliver recommendations that reflect the latest attack techniques, enabling even junior staff to act decisively. Colin Petty, IT Director at Gridworks, noted it delivers "immediate, actionable guidance" that allows his team to move from questions to action quickly.

Analysts highlight that such generative AI tools are delivering measurable improvements in security efficacy and operational efficiency across the industry by freeing up analyst time for more strategic activities.
