Alteon Protect links cloud and on-device security

Radware has introduced Alteon Protect, a security extension for its Alteon application delivery controllers that combines cloud-based threat detection with on-device enforcement to protect web applications and APIs, reports Security Brief Australia.

The add-on is designed for organizations running workloads across hybrid environments, allowing security inspection and analytics to occur in the cloud while enforcement remains on the Alteon device to reduce latency and avoid rerouting traffic through additional infrastructure. According to Radware, the system can detect and mitigate layer 7 web DDoS attacks, automated bot traffic, API abuse, and other application threats, while keeping SSL certificates and sensitive data local to the customer environment. The company said the architecture reflects the growing challenge of protecting API-driven and microservices-based applications while maintaining performance and operational control.

Alteon Protect can be deployed directly by enterprises or delivered by service providers and managed security providers using a multi-tenant model. Chief Operating Officer Gabi Malka said organizations often face trade-offs between performance, protection, and cost, adding that the new platform aims to deliver "continuous, cloud-scale security while preserving their existing investments."
