Additional US cybersecurity EOs on the cards, says Cairncross

The Trump administration was disclosed by U.S. National Cyber Director Sean Cairncross to be issuing further cybersecurity-focused executive orders following last month's release of the country's National Cyber Strategy, which was accompanied by an EO aimed at curtailing cybercrime and other fraudulent activities, reports Nextgov/FCW.

"There's more coming and we expect that it will be relatively soon," said Cairncross at the Semafor World Economy forum. Cairncross also noted ongoing coordination between the federal government and AI and tech firms in the wake of Anthropic's announcement of the Project Glasswing initiative and the Claude Mythos Preview model.

"We're working closely with the large-language model companies, we're working closely with the tech sector [and] we're working closely with industry to make sure that we do this in a responsible fashion," Cairncross added.

Such a development comes after the White House banned the use of all Anthropic tools across federal agencies following the company's refusal to relax Claude restrictions for military use.
