As companies focus on Big Data, new security challenges have resulted in a demand for Big Data security architects.  

What it takes

While the role is still being defined, areas of expertise include data protection, retention and ETL strategy as well as privacy and compliance requirements. Other critical skills include threat modeling, cryptography, access control, enterprise architecture and strong consultative skills.  

Compensation

While demand is high, available talent is limited so current base compensation ranges from $175K to $250K, plus incentives.
